Creating an iCloud App Password, so you can use SaneBox.

Important Update: As of June 15, 2017, Apple requires app-specific passwords to access your iCloud data using third-party apps like SaneBox.

Generating an App-Specific Password:
  • Visit your Apple ID management page: https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage
  • Ensure you’re logged in with the same Apple ID associated with your SaneBox account.
  • In the Security section, click App-Specific Passwords.
  • Click the “+” sign to generate a new password.
  • Label the password “SANEBOX” (case-sensitive).
  • Enter your regular Apple ID password. Apple will generate a unique password for SaneBox.
    • Crucially, write down or save this password securely in a password manager. Apple won’t store it for you.

Using the Password with SaneBox:
  • Log in to your SaneBox account.
    • If you can’t log in, reset your SaneBox password here.
  • Once logged in, enter the newly generated app-specific password in the SaneBox password field. Screen_Shot_2017-11-21_at_11.56.30_AM.png

Additional Notes:

It may take a few minutes, or rarely, a few hours, for the app password to be active across all Apple servers.
Keep this app password secure, ideally in a password manager.
