Privacy And Security: I don't want SaneBox reading my mail!

Does SaneBox Access My Email Content? Understanding Privacy

At SaneBox, we prioritize your privacy. Here’s a breakdown of how SaneBox interacts with your emails:

By default, SaneBox does not access the body or attachments of your emails. Our terms of service strictly prohibit human access to your mail content. You can find more details in our Terms of Service.

However, in specific scenarios, some features might require limited access:

  • SaneAttachments: If you choose to integrate cloud storage services like Dropbox with SaneAttachments, the service needs temporary access to process attachment information. Disabling SaneAttachments avoids this.

  • SaneReminders: Creating reminders using dedicated SaneBox email addresses (like “9am@sanebox.com”) requires the service to briefly process the address to set the reminder. You can create reminders directly within SaneBox to avoid this.

  • Snooze Options: Choosing “Top of Inbox” or “Top of Inbox with Date in Subject” for snoozing emails requires SaneBox to access the subject line to prioritize the email upon return. Opting for “Inbox” or “Original Sane Folder” during snooze setup avoids this.

By following these 3 simple steps, you can ensure minimal access to your email content by SaneBox:

  1. Disable SaneAttachments.
  2. Create reminders directly within SaneBox.
  3. Choose “Inbox” or “Original Sane Folder” for snooze options.

Rest assured, all other SaneBox features, like SaneLater, SaneNews, and SaneBlackHole, only require access to your email headers, not the content.
