Getting the Most Out of SaneLater
One of the most powerful features you’ll notice right away is SaneLater — the smart folder that keeps distracting, less important emails out of your Inbox so you can focus on what matters.
Why Some Emails Stay in Your Inbox at First
• When you first sign up, SaneBox doesn’t immediately move your old emails.
• Instead, it processes your backlog overnight (between 11 PM and 5 AM local time). Depending on the size of your Inbox, this may take a couple of nights.
• Once processed, you’ll see your Inbox slim down as less important messages are sorted neatly into SaneLater.
Why This Helps
• You can start using SaneBox right away without a long wait.
• Your Inbox is reorganized gradually, minimizing disruption.
• The SaneLater folder becomes your go-to place for lower-priority emails — newsletters, promotions, updates, and other non-urgent messages.
For Gmail Users: Folder Size Limits
Gmail sometimes limits the number of messages in IMAP folders. If your SaneLater folder isn’t showing everything, update this setting:
- Go to your Gmail Settings page.
- Select “Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder (default).”
Important Contacts and Training SaneLater
• SaneBox uses your Sent folder to identify important contacts. Emails from those people will usually stay in your Inbox.
• If you’d rather see them in SaneLater, simply drag their messages there. SaneBox will learn from your choice.
• Conversely, if something ends up in SaneLater that you want to see in your Inbox, drag it back.
Tip: Training SaneLater is quick — just move a few messages and SaneBox will catch on fast. Learn more about training SaneBox here.
By making SaneLater your second stop after checking your Inbox, you’ll enjoy a cleaner, calmer email experience every day.
