Keep Your Inbox Fresh with Apple Mail Sync Tricks!
Many SaneBox users report increased email happiness after making a simple change in Apple Mail: more frequent syncing!
Here’s why:
- Apple Mail might not always keep all folders perfectly in sync with your email server. This can lead to missing emails or folders appearing out of date.
The Fix? Use the Mailbox Menu!
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Click on the Mailbox menu.
- Choose Synchronize.
This tells Apple Mail to compare your folders with the server and update them accordingly.
“Get New Mail” might not be enough. It can miss emails it doesn’t consider “new” and some hosts take time to reflect folder changes.
Bonus Tip: If Sync Doesn’t Work
- Go back to the Mailbox menu and choose Take All Accounts Offline. Wait a minute.
- Choose Take All Accounts Online to re-establish the connection.
Pro Tip: Quit Apple Mail Occasionally
Quitting and restarting Apple Mail encourages it to refresh its connection with the server, potentially resolving sync issues.
Why Sync Issues Happen:
- Laptop sleep mode while managing emails on another device.
- Unstable internet connection.
- Reading emails from another device using the same account.
These situations can cause your Apple Mail view to become temporarily out of sync.
Take Control of Your Inbox!
By actively syncing your folders, you ensure your email is always up-to-date across devices. This can significantly improve your email management experience.
