Gmail Specific: Why does an email appear in two folders?

Seeing Double: Emails in Inbox and SaneLater (Gmail Issue)

You might see the same email appear in both your Inbox and SaneLater. This is due to Gmail’s “Conversations” feature.

Here’s why:

  • Conversations:
    • When enabled, Gmail groups emails related to the same topic into a single thread.
SaneLater & Training:

SaneLater uses email content and previous training to decide what to snooze.

Potential Duplicates:

With many emails in a conversation thread:

  • Parts of the conversation might appear in both your Inbox (unread messages) and SaneLater (previously snoozed messages).
  • This happens because individual emails within the thread might have different senders or training history.

Solutions:
  • Ignore Duplicates: Feel free to ignore these seemingly duplicate emails. SaneLater will manage them as intended.
  • Turn Off Conversations: If you prefer a single location for related emails, head to your Gmail Settings page and disable Conversations under the “General” tab.
  • Remember: SaneBox works best alongside your existing email habits. Choose the solution that best suits your workflow.
