Tame Large Attachments with SaneAttachments
Email attachments getting out of hand? Meet SaneAttachments — your secret weapon for keeping your inbox fast, tidy, and organized. Multiple accounts from any cloud service can be used.
What SaneAttachments Does
SaneAttachments automatically moves attachments from your incoming emails to your preferred cloud storage, freeing up space and helping your inbox load faster.
You’ll get a cleaner inbox, faster syncing, and peace of mind knowing your files are neatly stored in:
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Box
- OneDrive (consumer version only)
- Evernote
How to Set It Up
- Go to Settings in your SaneBox Dashboard
- Click on SaneAttachments
- Select your cloud storage of choice and log in to connect it
- (Optional) Set different services per email account if you manage more than one
Heads up: SaneAttachments only applies to new emails received after activation.
Pause or Disable Anytime
Need a break? Simply toggle SaneAttachments off in your settings — no need to disconnect or reconfigure later.
Choose Which Folders Upload Attachments
You decide which SaneBox folders send attachments to the cloud.
Head to the Upload section in your SaneAttachments settings to configure it.
Customize Your Setup
You’ll find several smart settings:
Add links to email — Inserts cloud links to the uploaded files (share with caution)
Location of links — Choose if the link appears at the top or bottom of the email
Permission to share — Set link privacy: public or restricted
Save original email copy — Send to Trash or @SaneOldAttachment folder after processing
Only process files larger than… — Default: 256 KB (Max: 9 MB)
Filename format — Control how files are named in storage
(Note: Deduplication options may overwrite files with the same name)
Privacy & Security
Your attachments are stored only in your private cloud folders
Public links are only accessible if shared — they’re not guessable
SaneBox never stores the files on its own servers
Special Notes & Limitations
OneDrive for Business
Not supported at this time due to Microsoft’s restrictions.
ActiveSync Email Accounts
Attachments will still upload, but links won’t appear in your emails (ActiveSync limitation).
Attachment Removal Exceptions
Sometimes SaneBox can’t remove attachments due to formatting issues. In those cases:
- The attachment is still uploaded to the cloud
- You may get a heads-up notification from us
SaneBox will always err on the side of safety if removing an attachment might affect email integrity.
What’s That Tiny Icon?
After attachments are processed, SaneBox places a tiny icon on the email. This helps you search for emails with attachments — without adding clutter or taking up extra space.
iCloud Users
Unfortunately, iCloud Drive is not supported. Apple does not allow third-party services like SaneAttachments to connect.
Microsoft Graph Users
Due to Microsoft 365 limitations, attachments cannot be removed from the original message — but rest assured, they will still upload to your cloud storage normally. This includes adding links to your emails as it would require us to modify the original email.
