Dealing with 'Deleted without being read' notifications

Understanding “Read Receipt” Confusion with SaneBox

What’s Happening?

Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 can be configured to send “read receipts” back to email senders when recipients open their messages. When SaneBox organizes your inbox by moving unread emails to folders like “@SaneLater,” Exchange might misinterpret this as deletion and trigger a false “read receipt” notification to the sender.

SaneBox Isn’t the Culprit:

SaneBox has no control over your Exchange server settings or senders’ “read receipt” requests. These false notifications are a quirk of Exchange server automation.

Turning a Flaw into Fun:

Let’s face it, technology can be funny sometimes! This situation might be a good opportunity to have a light-hearted conversation with the sender and explain how your email organization system works.

Managing Read Receipts:

(If allowed by your administrator) You may be able to control read receipt responses within your email software. Links to instructions for Outlook versions 2007, 2010, and 2013 are provided below.
